Stress-testing a facility pack without rebuilding the model

· 7 min read

You do not need a second full model to see whether a revolving facility request holds up. You need a short, honest stress pass on the utilisation and repayment months that already sit in the pack.

Choose two modest shocks

For most trading businesses in northern and southern Thailand, useful shocks are:

  • A 15% delay in receivables for two months
  • A 10% rise in inventory holding without a matching sales lift

Apply them only to the peak utilisation window. If the facility headroom disappears under those shocks, the application’s comfort language needs rewriting — or the facility size needs revisiting.

Keep the lender’s template intact

Do not invent a parallel workbook the bank never asked for. Annotate the existing schedules. Credit teams prefer fewer files and clearer marks.

Pair stress notes with ownership

Every stress finding should name who will adjust the schedule. A Pre-Submission Walkthrough session is designed for exactly that handoff inside your team before lodgement.

Financial audit of applications is less about predicting the future and more about refusing to send a pack that only works in the optimistic column.
